India take on Sri Lanka in 1st Twenty20 Intl on Wednesday

With the top spot in the ICC Test rankings in their pocket, India would look to extend their supremacy in the shortest version of the game as well when they take on Sri Lanka in the first Twenty20 International against Sri Lanka at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Jamtha, Nagpur on Wednesday. India would clearly have the psychological advantage after thrashing Sri Lanka by innings defeats in the last two matches of the three-Test series although, there will be a number of changes in both the sides that played in the Tests. Suresh Raina, Yousuf Pathan and Rohit Sharma will join the Indian team which will be without the experience of Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh. Rookie pacer Ashok Dinda and R Ashwin have been given a chance to prove their mettle at the international stage but whether they make it to the playing XI remains to be seen. S Sreesanth, who made a splendid return to national side against Sri Lanka, is unlikely to play tomorrow and in his absence Ishant Sharma and Ashish Nehra are most likely to share the pace attack.Sri Lanka would like to wipe out the horrible show in the Test series and their pace attack would be strengthened by Lasith Malinga, while veteran opener Sanatah Jayasurya will also join the team. The visitors have also brought in some all-rounders just for the two T20 matches. But whether Jayasurya opens with Tillakaratne Dilshan is still not confirmed.
