India take on South Africa in first of three test series at Centurion today

India will take on South Africa in the first of a three-test Cricket series at Centurion today. Described as the final frontier by Coach Gary Kirsten, world number two South Africa will challenge India's number one status like no other side has in more than a year when the series kicks off at the Super Sport Park. Graeme Smith's men will look to exploit the Indian batsmen's well-known susceptibility to the rising deliveries on bouncy tracks at Centurion. The conditions, in fact, would prove to be India's biggest challenge against a quality opposition but captain Dhoni said, his side is ready with a blend of youth and experience to record their first Test series win in South Africa. Zaheer Khan is unlikely to play in this Test. Zaheer is struggling with a hamstring injury and bowled only a few overs at the nets during the two training days in Centurion. Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni said that either Jaidev Unadkat or Umesh Yadav may earn their first Test cap if Zaheer happens to miss the opening Test today. All India Radio will broadcast running commentary on the match on Rajdhani Channel and FM Gold from 1.50 pm to 10 pm or till the end of the match from today till the 20th of this month.
