India and Switzerland on Friday discussed ways and means for enhancing cooperation in the field of Transport sector including roads and Railways. The Head of the Department for Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications of Switzerland Ms. Doris Leuthard called on the Minister for Road Transport and Highways Dr. C. P. Joshi in New Delhi in this regard. During the meeting. Mr. Joshi, said that varied geographical features and climatic conditions of India require different technology for constructing highways and expressways.
He sought increased participation of Swiss contractors and concessionaires in its endeavour to have a world-class transport infrastructure. Mr Joshi said that bilateral trade between two countries, has been heading upwards for the last five years and stands at over 4.5 billion US dollar.
