India has successfully testfired interceptor missile from Wheeler Island of Dhamra in Bhadrak district of Orissa coast. The interceptor missile was fired on Tuesday morning at 10.08 from Launch complex number 4 of the Wheeler Island and hit the target in the air accurately. The target missile was fired at 10.05 this morning from launch complex number 3 of Interim Test Range of Chandipore of Balasore district of Orissa coast. The interceptor missile is of 7 meter length and can hit the enemy target within a radius of 50 km in the air. This is the fourth time that the DRDO has tested its intercepting missile. The three previous tests were conducted on November 27, 2006, December 6, 2007 and March 6, 2009 from Wheeler Island. A total of 3220 people were evacuated near Chandipore and Dhamra for the firing.
