India today successfully testfired ship based ballistic missile Dhanush from the east coast of Orissa, about 30 nautical miles from Chandipore – on – sea in Bay of Bengal. The indigenously built missile is capable of carrying 500 kg of pay load of both conventional and nuclear warhead. It is the naval version of India's indigenously built surface to surface Prithvi missile. The Dhanush with a range of 350km was test fired from INS Subhadhra at 11.30 this morning in presence of Senior Indian Navy Officers and DRDO Scientists. India had successfully test fired Dhanush on 30th of April 2007.
