India successfully test-fires Medium Range Surface to Air Missile

India today successfully test-fired once again Medium Range Surface to Air Missile (MRSAM) from defence base in the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur off the Odisha coast. The missile was developed jointly with Israel. The missile mounted on a mobile launcher blasted off from LC-3 in the ITR at 10:26 this morning. Apart from the missile, the system includes a Multi-Functional Surveillance and Threat Alert Radar (MF STAR) for detection, tracking and to guide the missile.

The missile will provide the users with the capability to neutralise any aerial threats. The local administration had temporarily displaced more than 3500 people residing within 2.5 kms radius of the ITR for security reasons ahead of the test. Yesterday the same missiles had been test fired successfully twice.
