India has successfully test-fired, the indigenously developed surface-to-surface medium-range ballistic missile Agni-II from the Interim Test Range (ITR) in Wheeler Island of the Orissa Coast on Monday. <br/> <br/>The missile was test-fired at 9.15 this morning from a mobile launcher, from launching complex no 4 of the Wheeler Island. The 21 meter long and measuring 1 meter diameter Agni-II weighs 16-tonne. <br/> <br/>The missile can destroy enemy targets within a range of 2000 kms. It can carry both conventional and nuclear warhead loads of 1000 kgs. Successful test-firing of Agni-II is a great achievement for both the Deference Research Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Army.<br/> <br/> In earlier occasions, Agni-II could not hit the target on two occasions due to some technical snags. Senior DRDO and defence officials were present at the launching site when Agni-II was test-fired.<br/><br/>
