India will give 150 fishing boats and fishing equipment to 300 Tamil fishermen from Mullaithivu in North Sri Lanka as a part of country's development assistance program in Sri Lanka. <br/><br/>A Memorandum of Understanding to the effect was signed by India and Sri Lanka in Colombo last evening at the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development. <br/><br/>The MoU was signed by the Indian High Commissioner Mr. Y.K. Sinha, and Ms. Adikari, Secretary, Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development. The signing ceremony was presided over by Fisheries Minister Mahinda Amaraweera. <br/><br/>High Commission of India will float a tender to procure the items through a competitive bidding process. The project will cost Rs 5 crore. Earlier, India had provided 175 boats and fishing equipment to Tamil fishermen of Mannar region.
