India and South Africa have agreed to intensify co-operation in various fields and exchange of visits by parliamentarians.
The decision was taken following discussions between the President Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil, Speaker of South Africa's National Assembly M V Sisulu and Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces M J Mahalangu, when Mrs.Patil visited the South African Parliament in Cape Town.
During the discussions with presiding Officers and parliamentarians, it was agreed to exchange goodwill delegations of lawmakers, dates for which will be finalised later.
They also discussed and agreed to work together on federalism, decentralisation and the representation of women in Parliament.
