India stood on the brink of losing their number one Test ranking in the world as the fourth day's play in the fourth cricket Test against West Indies was abandoned owing to wet outfield at Port of Spain yesterday. Efforts to get the Queen's Park Oval ready for play were given up in the very first hour of day four.No play has been possible since the first day on Thursday when the West Indies reached 62 for two before lunch after choosing to bat first. Day two and three were also abandoned without a ball being bowled as wet outfield and intermittent showers made sure that the ground was unfit for cricket. With this match seemingly destined for a draw, India, despite a 2-0 lead in the series, will lose their number one ranking in Test cricket to arch rivals Pakistan.India need to win the series 3-0 to retain the top position in the rankings following Pakistan's 2-2 series draw in England.
