India set target of 228 for Pak in first ODI

India have set a target of 228 runs in 50 overs for Pakistan to win the first ODI of the 3 Cricket match series at MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai. Hosts scored 227 for 6 in their stipulated 50 overs. India had slipped to 29 for 5 against accurate Pakistan bowling, and Skipper M S Dhoni, first with Suresh Raina and then with R Ashwin, constructed two contrasting partnerships to pull India to a respectable score. Dhoni hit a magnificent hundred in testing conditions and remained not out at 113 while R Ashwin was unbeaten on 31. Suresh Raina made 43 runs. For Pakistan, Junaid Khan was the most successful bowler who claimed 4 wickets. Earlier visitors won the toss and elected to field first. The toss, originally scheduled for 8.30am, took place at 9.30am, due to wet outfield.
