India sends team to flood-hit lanka

India is sending urgent relief assistance for the people displaced and affected in the recent floods in Sri Lanka. The Indian Air Force is air lifting relief worth $ 1 million for the flood-hit island nation to deal with the situation.The relief assistance being sent in two planeloads consists of dry rations, ready to eat meals, blankets, mattresses and water purification kits.The first aircraft left New Delhi for Colombo on Friday and the second flight is scheduled to carry relief on Monday. The Government has expressed its solidarity with Sri Lanka at this difficult moment and says that it stands ready to assist in meeting the humanitarian challenge.
