India seeks technical coop from France to improve transport system

New Delhi is seeking technical cooperation from Paris to improve its urban transport system, apart from sewage and drainage in the metro cities. This was disclosed by Urban Development Minister, Mr. Jaipal Reddy while addressing a press conference in New Delhi this evening. He said that India is also seeking help from France in water management and renewable energy areas with a focus on mega cities in the country. He said, India is also seeking their support and expertise for maintaining heritage sites. <br/><br/> Earlier, a three day seminar on cooperation in local governance, sustainable development and regional management began in New Delhi today. The objective of the seminar is to enable Indian urban local bodies to meet their French counterparts to encourage better exchange of ideas on issues of mutual concern. Twenty mayors from France are participating in the seminar which is part of the Festival of France in India.
