India has sought strict action in the matter of Kasturi Munirathinam and severe punishment for the employer who chopped off her hand. Talking to reporters, MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup said Indian Mission in Riyadh has apprised the Ministry of the matter. He said the Mission officials have visited Mrs. Kasturi in the hospital and her situation is stable. He said the Mission is actively pursuing the matter with the Saudi authorities.<br/><br/>Mr Swarup said Mission officials have also met the Police Chief as well as the Investigating Officer and requested that Mrs. Kasturi's statement be recorded without further delay. India has also demanded an independent probe in the incident and slapping of a case of attempt to murder. The sponsor should be also directed to pay for her on-going treatment. He also said Ministry officials are in touch with Kasturi's family in Vellore, Tamil Nadu.<br/><br/>
