The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh has said that India's relations with the major powers of the world and Asian neighbours are shaped by its developmental priorities. Addressing Indian Ambassadors and High Commissioners Conclave in New Delhi today, he said, the single most important objective of Indian Foreign Policy is to create global environment conducive to well-being of the country.
Dr. Singh said, New Delhi seeks stable, long-term and mutually beneficial relations with all major powers and is prepared to work with international community to create a global, economic and security environment. He said, greater integration with world economy will benefit India and enable its people to realise their creative potential. Dr. Singh said his Government has sought to make a fundamental change in the foreign policy based on national priorities asserting that the policy of the country should reflect these preferences and concerns.
The Annual Conclave attended by about 120 Envoys was convened to discuss cross-border terror and India's ties with neighbours including China.
