India has sought greater global cooperation to combat terrorism. Delivering the inaugural address of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of National Defence College in New Delhi today the President Mrs. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil said that terrorism has become a global challenge.She said that the world-wide network of non-state actors is threatening the regional peace and security. The President noted that sophisticated technology have added to new areas of security threats like trans-national crimes, cyber attack and drug trafficking.National Security Advisor Mr.Shivshankar Menon said that India's nuclear doctrine has made it very clear that there will be no first attack. He said in certain regions of the world power has shifted from the state to the non-state actors. The National Security Adviser reasserted that India is committed to the new security architecture to correspond to the new emerging situations.The King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk was the chief guest of the inaugural function. Several dignitaries who attended the function include Navy Chief Admiral Nirmal Verma, Air Chief Marshal P V Naik and Army Chief General V K Singh and Defence Secretary Pradeep Kumar.
