India has sought assurance from the US over the safety of the Indian community living in that country. External Affairs Minister S M Krishna spoke to US Secretary
of State Hillary Clinton regarding the shooting incident at a Wisconsin Gurdwara that left seven people dead. He also requested for a full and prompt investigation in a bid to give a strong message of reassurance to the Indian community regarding their security and welfare.
Mr Krishna requested strengthening of security at places of worship during a telephonic conversation with Clinton, who is currently in South Africa.
The Minister hoped that a strong message of reassurance will be sent to the Indian community that everything necessary for their security and welfare would be done. Condemning the incident, Mr Krishna told reporters that the motive and the persons responsible for the attack on the gurudwara would be revealed in the preliminary report of the investigating agency.
A former US Army man has been identified a suspect of shooting 7 people at a Gurudwara at Wisconsin in the US.
