India, SE Asian nations improving connectivity: Nirmala

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that enhancing sea, land and air connectivity with South East Asian countries are in the priorities of the Government of India to improve trade and bilateral relations. <br/><br/>After inaugurating the two day conclave of India-CLMV Business conclave in Jaipur today, Ms Sitharaman said, the government is working closely with Myanmar for sea and road connectivity and the Myanmar is also expediting work on its side.<br/><br/>She said, the government has expedited work on the project of Kaladan trilateral transit facility which connects India with South-East Asian countries by road and has expedited work on its side.<br/><br/>Speaking on the potential in the CLMV (Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam) countries during the inaugural ceremony, the minister said, agricultural tools, instruments and scooter and moped manufacturing companies have great potential. <br/><br/>Other than that, the minister said, there are immense potential for cooperation in the sectors of tourism, handicrafts, textile and pharmaceutical.<br/><br/>She informed that the cabinet has cleared a proposal to create a 500 crore rupees project development fund to increase economic presence in the CLMV nations.<br/><br/>Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje said, the state government has partnered with companies to accelerate growth of the state by inviting investment. She pointed out that that skill development, tourism are some of the areas where the partnership can be done.<br/><br/>Ministers from the CLMV nations also addressed the inaugural ceremony of the two-day conclave which will cover sectors of manufacturing, renewable energy, agriculture and skill.
