India says no request yet to contribute to Europe’s bailout fund

India says no request has been made to it bilaterally to make contributions to Europe's bailout fund to help the Eurozone tide over its sovereign debt crisis.

Briefing media at Cannes, Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia, said India is willing to join any effort by the International Monetary Fund – IMF to chip in with the required resources.

Mr. Ahluwalia said, it was India's view that Europe should do what it can to deal with what primarily is a European problem.

On the issue of tax evasion Ahluwalia said several countries support the issue that there should be more transparency.

He said, significant progress has been made in this area and much information is available today in comparison to five years back.
