India and South Africa today signed three pacts for better air connectivity and strengthening of cooperation in the areas of agriculture and allied sectors. The agreements were signed after the delegation level talks between the Prime Minister and visiting South African President Jacob Zuma in New Delhi. Dr. Manmohan Singh and South African President held wide-ranging talks on the whole gamut of bilateral and global issues including the stepping up of economic ties and closer coordination. <br/>In their interaction with the media, the two leaders stressed on revamping global institutions to reflect contemporary realities. They also reiterated mutual support for candidacy for rotating non-permanent seats in the UN Security Council for 2011-12.The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh said that that the two countries will step up our efforts for the reform of global institutions, including that of the UN Security Council.<br/> <br/> The South African President supplemented that the two countries have agreed to support each other's candidatures for the non-permanent seat for the 2011-12 term.<br/> <br/> Later, interacting with the captains of industry, the visiting dignitary re-asserted that the collaboration between the two nations will help remove unemployment and under-development. He said, India and South Africa have the potential to make itself the next global growth centre. He sad. both the governments are committed to remove trade barriers to realise full economic potential. For this, he said it is imperative to expedite the process of concluding the Preferential Trade Agreement. Mr. Zuma invited the Indian businessmen to invest in South Africa.<br/> <br/>Dr. Manmohan Singh said that the two countries decided to provide fresh impetus to economic, trade and investment relationship. In a bid to widen and deepen the relations between the two countries, the Prime Minister said that the cooperation in the areas of science and technology, agriculture, human resources development, people-to-people exchanges and security. He pledged India's support to South Africa in addressing the challenges of capacity building, security development, job creation and combating diseases. These issues , he said, will be discussed in detail in the next joint commission meeting. Describing Mr. Zuma's visit to India as a milestone, he extended best wishes to South Africa for hosting the forthcoming Football World Cup, FIFA. Our correspondent reports that the talks between the two leaders lasted more than one and a half hour and cooperation in the areas health, defence and communications figured prominently in the discussions. <br/>Earlier, South Africa called for stronger ties with India.Talking to All India Radio this morning , Mr Zuma said that after assuming office he chose to visit India as the first Asian country and this shows the importance his country attaches to relations with India. The President Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil will host a banquet in the honour of the visiting dignitary this evening. Mr. Zuma arrived in Mumbai on Wednesday accompanied by a high level delegation. He was given a ceremonial reception at the forecourts of Rashtrapati Bhawan this morning.Mr. Zuma and Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma yesterday launched the India-South Africa CEOs Forum in Mumbai.<br/>
