India and South Africa have exuded confidence of achieving the 15 billion US dollar bi-lateral trade this current year itself ahead of the set target in 2014. The announcement follows Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma's meeting with his counterpart Rob Davies during his two-day visit to South Africa starting from Friday. According to an official release, during the meeting , both the ministers expressed satisfaction over the fact that the bilateral trade between these two countries had crossed 14 billion US dollar last year. Both Mr Sharma and Mr Davies also took stock of the ongoing India-Southern African Customs Union negotiations on preferential trade agreement and Mr Sharma emphasised the need for early conclusion of the pact. The release also said that the two ministers also noted the growing investments by the private sector on both sides. Indian firms have already invested over eight billion US dollar in South Africa. During his visit, Mr Sharma also called on South African President Jacob Zuma and discussed global and regional developments and areas of bilateral co-operation.
