India, Russia to boost their cooperation in hydrocarbons, pharma, coking coal, infra

India and Russia have decided to step up their cooperation further in the field of hydrocarbons, pharmaceuticals, coking coal, and infrastructure.External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said, in the meeting between Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry O Rogozin and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, it was decided to increase the bilateral trade beyond the present ten billion dollars.Mr Akbaruddin said, the focus of the meeting between the two leaders was on improving the untapped potential between the two countries in terms of economic and commercial engagement.The Spokesman said, India has also proposed to have a trade show in Moscow in September this year.He said, Swaraj and Rogozin also deliberated on cooperation in nuclear energy sector, particularly issues relating to signing of a deal for unit 3 and 4 of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant.The Spokesperson said, the unit 1 of the power plant had attained full capacity of 1000 Mega Watt on 7th of June while unit 2 is likely to attain criticality by the end of this year.Mr Rogozin arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday night on a two-day visit to India. He will call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi today to discuss issues of bilateral interest.
