India and Russia today signed five pacts including Science and Technology and Energy Security. The pacts were signed after the delegation level talks between the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh and the Russian President, Mr. Vladimir Putin after the talks. Senior officials of the two countries were present at the signing ceremony.
The leaders of the of the two countries asked the officials to resolve all outstanding issues at the earliest on liability that have stalled work of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project. Speaking after talks, Dr. Singh said he held wide ranging talks with President Putin to enhance cooperation in the fields of rocket, missile, naval technologies and weapon systems.
He also discussed cooperation in the field of terrorism and looked at ways to enhance trade and investment among other things. The two countries decided to work closely together at multilateral platforms including BRICKS, G-20, East-Asia Summit and United Nations.
In his opening remarks, the Russian President said that India and Russia are strategic partners and both countries cooperate in different areas, including in military and technical areas.
While welcoming the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Mr Putin said that most of mutually set targets have been achieved.
