India and Russia are now holding summit level talks at Hydrabad House in New Delhi. The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is leading the Indian delegation while the Russian President Dmitri Medvedev is heading the delegation from Moscow. Mr Medvedev who arrived in New Delhi last night is accompanied by a large business delegation and senior ministers. The two countries are set to move beyond traditional areas of cooperation to focus on achieving the bilateral trade to 20 billion US Dollars by 2015. India and Russia are likely to sign agreements on joint production of multi-billion dollar jet fighter planes and building of more Russia-aided nuclear reactors. A slew of other agreements to be signed after the talks also include areas civil nuclear energy and cooperation in science and technology. Ahead of the talks the business houses of the two countries signed eight pacts in pharmaceuticals, scientific and technical cooperation and other important areas. The two countries decided to increase business interaction with a view to explore investment opportunities in new areas including mining and information technology. Six new ares of cooperation have been identified to realize the full potential of the economic engagement. During his stay the Russian President will meet the president Mrs. Pritibha Devisingh Patil and exchange views with other Indian leaders.The External affairs Minsiter S M Krishana called on him this morning to give final touches to the agenda for the summit talks. The Russian leader will also go to Agra and Mumbai tomorrow. In Mumbai, Mr Medvedev will stay at The Taj Palace, one of the targets of Pakistani terrorists in November 2008, and pay homage to victims of the savagery. He will visit the Indian Institute of Technology, Powai, and go to the Film City where he will interact with Bollywood stars.
