India and Russia have finalized several pacts in Trade, Investment, Energy including Nuclear Energy and High Technology trade after delegation level talks between External Affairs Minister, S. M. Krishna and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in New Delhi today. These agreements will be signed during the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev summit level talks with the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in Delhi next month. The Russian President will be on a two-day official visit to India on 21st and 22nd of next month. The two countries have also agreed to implement projects in the areas of economy, science and technology and military cooperation. The two countries signed a protocol to intensify strategic cooperation between the two countries. Talking to reporters after talks, S. M. Krishna said that regional and global issues also figured in the talks. He said, talks on purchase of fifth generation aircraft are being held. In response to a question, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov urged Pakistan to stop infiltration from across the border. He, however, hoped that the relations between India and Pakistan will improve. He however added that there is no justification for terrorism. Justifying Russia's foreign policy approach towards Pakistan, he said Moscow is ready to help Islamabad in combating the menace of terrorism in that country and in the region surrounding it. Lavrov said that his country welcomes India as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council and also supports the reform process in the council. He also advocated that India should be made Member of the Shangai Corporation.
