India, Russia discuss economic cooperation, energy security and long-pending K'kulam reactor deal

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmtry O Rogozin today met External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi and discussed a range of bilateral and international issues of mutual interest.

The two leaders are believed to have discussed issues relating to economic cooperation, energy security and the long-pending deal for the third and fourth reactors of the Kudankulam power plant. This is the first high-level visit from Russia after Narendra Modi assumed office.

Mr Rogozin arrived in New Delhi late last night on a two-day visit. He will call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow to discuss issues of bilateral interest.

India and Russia are also likely to initiate preparations for the Annual Summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Vladmir Putin scheduled during the course of the year.
