India' response to COVID19 under PM's leadership – a brief

<span style="color: #222222;">Prime Minister Narendra Modi first mentioned COVID-19 to his entire Cabinet on 29th January and asked them to take it seriously. He also directed that India's response must be entirely science-based. India had not even seen its first case at that time. He has been personally monitoring India's statistics every morning since early March. Since then, Mr Modi has discussed COVID-19 situation in all Cabinet meetings, asking Ministers about their assessment of situation in their respective areas.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the way in refraining from social gatherings in early March during Holi. This had already conveyed the seriousness of the situation to millions of people. Next, he addressed the nation and came out with a unique Jan Bhagidari initiative called 'Janata Curfew'. He exhorted the people to observe a countrywide lockdown of one day and show the world how India could unite to fight the pandemic. This prepared the nation mentally for an upcoming lockdown. After this, the Prime Minister announced a nationwide lockdown from 24th March. In the same address, he gave the message of 'Jaan Hai Toh Jahaan Hai' to convey the seriousness of the situation. </span><br />
