India, Republic of Korea sign Social Security Agreement

India and Republic of Korea signed Social Security Agreement in Seoul on Tuesday. The Agreement was signed by Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs, Vayalar Ravi, and Minister for Trade of the Republic of Korea, Kim Jong-hoon. The agreement would enhance movement of professionals between the two countries and strengthen the trade and investment. The Agreementt will protect the workers from double payment of social security contributions. The benefits provided to Indian nationals working in the Republic of Korea, on a reciprocal basis, include migrant workers sent by South Korea-based companies to their Indian subsidiaries, or those sent by Indian companies to their subsidiaries in South Korea will be exempted from social security contribution.
