India regrets that Pakistan failed to act against Hafiz Saeed

India today said that it considers Jammat-ud-Dawa Chief Hafiz Saeed as mastermind of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. In reply to a media query External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson, Syed Akbaruddin said, New Delhi regrets that Pakistan has failed to act against Saeed.

Reiterating New Delhi's stand on Saeed 's role in the attacks, the spokesperson said, the conspiracy was hatched in Pakistan and financing was undertaken there and people involved in the case were from Pakistan.

The statement came after Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit today said that Hafiz Saeed as a Pakistani national can roam free in his country.

Basit said Pakistani courts have already exonerated Saeed and there is no case pending against him.
