In the NKP Salve Challenger Cricket Trophy at Nagpur India Red won their match against India Green by 08 wickets on Friday. Chasing a target of 224 runs, India Red scored 229 for 2 in 38.4 overs. Openers Shikar Dhawan and Murali Vijay put on 155 for the first wicket before Dhawal Kulkarni got the first breakthrough for India Green dismissing Dhawan for 68. M. Vijay who top-scored with 104 runs was caught by Tiwary of the bowling of Nanda in the 37th over. With 16 runs to get, skipper Badrinath finished the proceedings with a huge six in the 39th over and in the process also earned a bonus point for his team. Earlier, electing to bat first in their opening match, India Green had a poor start losing their first wicket in the fourth over when opener Parthiv Patel was dismissed by Sudeep Tyagi for 12. India Red, who lost their opening match to India Blue by a whisker on Thursday , struck again in the 7th over when Munaf Patel dismissed Ajinkya Rahane cheaply for 2 runs. Srikanth Anirudha, who came in at No.6, alongwith Saurabh Tiwary added 74 runs for the fifth wicket. After losing the early advantage, India Red could finally restrict India Green for 223 runs for 7 wickets in their allotted 50 overs with top scorer Saurabh Tiwary contributing 66 runs. On Saturday , India Blue will take on India Green.
