India is providing an assistance of 1.15 crore rupees for construction of a double storied building for Shree Shanti Adarsha Secondary School under Nepal-India Economic Cooperation Programme. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Embassy of India, Kathmandu and the District Development Committee, Jhapa and the concerned school authorities for providing the grant assistance. This is the eighteenth development project in the Jhapa District being undertaken with the assistance of India under Small Development Projects. The new infrastructure would create an improved environment for learning and contribute to the development of education in the area.According to a press release issued by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, India recognizes the importance of accelerating economic rehabilitation and development in Nepal and remains committed to rendering all possible assistance in that direction.India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme has an outlay over 5700 crore rupees with more than 390 large and small projects completed or currently being implemented in all districts of Nepal in the sectors of education, health and infrastructure development. These development projects have been undertaken in response to local needs and in partnership with the Government of Nepal.
