India is providing a grant assistance of 11.05 crore Nepali rupees to four districts of Nepal for construction of school and college buildings and restoration of historical and cultural heritage sites.<br/><br/>Four separate Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) were signed on Monday by the Embassy of India, Kathmandu with concerned executing agency of Government of Nepal and the beneficiary organizations for providing the grant assistance.<br/><br/>These included grant assistance of 1.57 crore rupees to Shree Fikkal Higher Secondary School, Fikkal in Ilam district and 2.70 crore rupees for Shree Dwardevi Secondary School, Alau village in Parsa district for construction of school buildings, and a double storied administrative block with compound wall and furniture.<br/><br/>Under the MoU, India is also providing grant assistance of 3.52 crore rupees to Tikapur Multiple Campus, Tikapur in Kailali district for construction of double storied college block and a single storied library block and 3.26 crore rupees to Society for Development of Lalitpur for restoration of buildings of historical and cultural importance at nine places in the district.<br/><br/>According to a press release issued by the Indian Embassy, Kathmandu, these projects are to be implemented as Small Development Projects under the India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme in consultation with the Government of Nepal.<br/><br/> India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme has an outlay over 2590 crores with the more than 360 large and small projects currently being implemented in all districts of Nepal in the sectors of education, health and infrastructure development. These development projects have been undertaken in response to local needs, which stand as a symbol of the deep friendship that characterizes the relationship between India and Nepal.
