India provides a grant of 11.74 crore rupees to Nepal

India is providing a grant assistance of 11.74 crore rupees to Nepal for implementation of three development projects in Dhanusha and Kaski districts under India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme. These included assistance of 3.65 crore rupees for development of Rangbhumi ground, an important religious site where marriage ceremony between Lord Ram of Ayodhya and Princes Sita of Mithila was performed. The pilgrims during Bibah-Panchami, Ram-Navami and other festivals make use of the ground and take bath in Gangasagar and Dhanushsagar. Government of India is also providing a grant assistance of 4.51 crore rupees for construction of a girl's hostel building for Pokhara University in Kaski district and another 3.58 crore rupees for development of Gangasagar and Dhanushaghar at Janakpurdham in Dhanusha district. These development projects have been undertaken by India in response to local needs and in partnership with the Government of Nepal to accelerate economic rehabilitation and development of Nepal. India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme has an outlay over 5700 crore Nepali rupees with more than 385 large and small projects completed or currently being implemented in all districts of Nepal in the sectors of education, health and infrastructure development.
