India proposes dialogue with Iran on IPI pipeline

<br/>India today proposed a dialogue with Iran to discuss impediments in implementation of the Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) gas pipeline project.On the sidelines of the 12th International Energy Forum in Cancun in Mexico, Petroleum Minister Murli Deora met Iran's Deputy Minister for International Affairs H Noghrehkar Shirazi to propose bilateral talks in May. Mr Sunil Jain, Joint Secretary, International Cooperation, Petroleaum Ministry said after the meeting that India is ready to hold talks and have proposed meeting of Joint Working Group of the two countries on the pipeline project. He said we are waiting for Iran to decide on the dates. The New Delhi's offer of talks follows Iran and Pakistan signing pacts to implement the long-talked project on bilateral basis. Mr Jain also informed that India has offered Kuwait a stake in Oil and Natural Gas Corp’s 12,440-crore rupees petrochemical plant at Dahej in Gujarat and Indian Oil Corp’s proposed chemical unit at Paradip.<br/>
