India proposed Indo-Japan science centre

India today proposed to Japan to set up a Indo-Japan science centre. Minister of State for Science and Technology Ashwani Kumar made the suggestion during his discussions with Japanese Foreign Minister Koichiro Gemba. He also apprised Gemba of steps taken by India to strengthen safety measures at all its nuclear power plants in the aftermath of the Fukushima accident.

Gemba informed the minister that Japan has an ambitious five year plan for re-construction after the Fukushima disaster. He also stated that Japan supports the call for reform of the UN and multilateral institutions so as to reflect the new realities.
