India pledges aid of over Rs 8 cr for Nepal under Economic Co-op programme

India has pledged to provide 8,36,00,000 Nepali rupees for Lalitpur and Nuwakot districts under the Nepal-India Economic Cooperation programme. In two separate Memoranda of Understanding, MoUs signed yesterday at the Embassy of India, India is to provide 3,63,00,000 for the Shree Tribhuvan Trishuli Higher Secondary School Nuwakot for the construction of a school building. India will also provide assistance of 3,61,00,000 Nepali rupees for the renovation of historical and cultural sites in Lalitpur district of Kathmandu valley. Recently an agreement had already been signed for providing Indian assistance for renovation and restoration in Lalitpur district. The India – Nepal Economic Programme has an outlay of over 65 billion Nepali rupees with more than 490 large and small development projects completed or currently being implemented in almost all the districts of Nepal. These development projects mainly in the sectors of education, health and infrastructure development have been undertaken in response to local needs, and in partnership with the Government of Nepal.
