The crucial talks between External Affairs Minister SM Krishna and his Pakistani counterpart Hina Rabbani Khar begins in Islamabad today. Official sources said both the countries were all set to sign a new liberalised visa agreement after the talks to boost people to people contact. An MOU in the field of culture between Indian Council of Cultural Relations and Pakistan National Council of Arts will also be signed.
The two leaders will co-chair the joint commission meeting later in the day. The JCM was revived in 2005 after a pause of 16 years. Indian official sources say terrorism and 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks will form the core of New Delhi's discussions.
The Foreign Secretaries of the two countries met on Friday as the precursor to the Foreign Ministers’ dialogue. They discussed all aspects of the resumed dialogue process between the two countries. Both acknowledged that progress has been made but agreed that much more needs to be done. India raised the issue of terrorism.
