Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar said that the parliaments of India and Pakistan have an important role to play in fostering better relations between the people of two nations.

Talking to reporters in Islamabad, Ms Kumar said the foundation of relations between two nations is based on common culture and links, including a shared love for music, films and sports.

Meira Kumar is also scheduled to meet President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, and Farooq Naek, the Chairman of the Senate , during her visit.
