The Foreign Secretaries of India and Pakistan are likely to meet on the sidelines of SAARC Standing Committee early next month in Thimpu, Bhutan. An External Affairs Ministry spokesman told this in response to a question in New Delhi.AIR correspondent reports that the Foreign Secretaries of the two countries met in June last year to bridge the trust deficit. This was the first high-level contact between the two countries after the Mumbai terror attacks. The Foreign ministers of the two countries later held talks in Islamabad in July to take the dialogue process forward. New Delhi maintains that it is open to discuss and resolve all issues with Islamabad.Recently, the External Affairs Minister Mr. S.M. Krishna had expressed hope that the two foreign secretaries will clear the ground for a productive meeting at the foreign ministers level.The Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi is expected to travel to New Delhi in the first quarter of this year.India has been urging Pakistan to bring perpetrators of Mumbai terrorist attack to justice and fulfill its repeated assurances of now allowing the territory under its control for sponsoring terrorism against India.
