<br/>Amid sharp differences on Kashmir and Balochistan issues, India and Pakistan have decided to continue the peace dialogue. Addressing a joint Press conference after about seven hour long meeting held in two sessions, the foreign ministers of the two countries said that the that the dialogue process will continue. While the Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi assured India of speedy trial of Mumbai terror attackers, S M Krishna said that that the assurance to this effect has been given the at the highest level in Pakistan .Mr. Qureshi said Islamabad will seriously investigate the leads provided by New Delhi about the involvement of Pakistani born American David Hadley in the terror trail. The issue was taken up by the Home Minister P Chidambaram in his meeting with the Pakistani Interior minister on the sidelines on SAARC Home Ministers meeting in Islamabad. <br/><br/>Mr. Krishna made it clear that the inputs from Hadley received by FBI and the Indian team have been given to Pakistan and a fast action on this front will be a great confidence building measure. Pakistan foreign minister noted that the terrorism is a common concern of the two countries and it calls for a working out a common strategy to eradicate this menace. Mr. Qureshi however, wanted India to send to Pakistan the magistrate and the police officials who investigated Ajmal Amir Kasab, sentenced to death for his role in the Mumbai assault, for deposing in the Pakistani courts.<br/><br/>The Pakistani side raised the issue of Balochistan at the meeting to which India made it clear that it had never interfered in the internal affairs of any country. Pakistan has not provided even a shred of evidence to New Delhi so far to show any India link with the ethnic violence in the province.<br/><br/>Pakistan also raised alleged human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir in the context of present turmoil in the valley. Mr. Krishna however made it quite clear to the Pakistani leadership that the state has a duly elected government, tasked with dealing with the law and order situation. He also stated that the state government and human rights organizations would immediately take up any case of human rights violations in the valley and there was no reason for Islamabad to be concerned about it. Mr. Qureshi said that various issues and confidence building measures were discussed in a free and candid manner in the extended discussions. He asserted that Infiltration from across the border and loc has gone up by 40 percent and expressed hope that Pakistan will keep its commitment not to allow the use of territory under its control for terrorist activities against India. <br/><br/>The Pakistan foreign minister said that issues of core concern including Jammu and Kashmir, CBM’s relating LOC trade and travel and seeking amicable solution of Sir creek and Siachin and release of prisoners and fisherman also came up for the discussion. Reiterating India’s desire to sea and democratic and prosperous Pakistan, Mr. S M Krishna said that he has invited the Foreign Minister of Pakistan to India and he is looking forward to his arrival. Our correspondent covering the talk’s reports from Islamabad that difference of opinion that came to the fore may cast shadow on the future of peace dialogue.<br/><br/>The US welcomed the Foreign Minister-level talks between India and Pakistan, The State Department spokesman P J Crowley told reporters at his daily press briefing that this kind of dialogue will enable the two neighbourssort out issues of differences between them. <br/><br/>The spokesman said the US welcomes the increase in the level of dialogue between the two countries.<br/><br/> <br/><br/>The US has maintained that it is for India and Pakistan to decide on the pace and scope of the peace talks, but has said it encourages both the countries to resolve all their differences through dialogue.
