India began their medal hunt in the 16th Asian Games Guangzhou, China with shooters winning 2 silver medals. Ace marksman Gagan Narang fetched the first individual medal for India by clinching silver in the 10 metre air rifle event and then teamed up with Bindra and Sanjeev Rajput to add another silver in the team event. In Badminton, star woman shuttler Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap scored impressive wins, but the Indian challenge ended in both the men's and women's team events.
