The Union Finance Minister Mr.Pranab Mukherjee has said that India is one of the fastest growing economy in the world next to China. After inaugurating the Integrated Air Cargo complex at Chennai, Mr.Mukherjee said that our country has developed resilience to absorb internal and external pressures. The finance Minister pointed out that the major financial crisis which struck the international economy, did not affect our economy but still he warned that we cannot be complacent but have to work hard to improve the situation. Mr.Mukherjee said that exports have yielded a revenue of 3 thousand 300 crore rupees in the current financial year. He also stated that the value of inputs have increased from 466 crore in 1997 to 98 to 52 thousand crore in 2009-10. The export sharing has risen from 4322 crore rupees in 1997 to 2 lakh 61 thousand crore. Earlier speaking at the review meeting of Central Board of Direct Taxes and Central Board of Excise and Customs, Mr.Mukherjee said that the direct and indirect taxes collection targets will be raised. He said that direct tax target will be at 4 percent and indirect tax would be at 7 percent.
