Sri Lanka has said that India will not tolerate any military takeover in the island nation and will fully support the government to foil any coup attempt. Social services minister S. B. Dissanayake said, President Maithripala Sirisena enjoyed good relations with India and could trust its support in any coup attempt. <br/><br/>His comments came in reaction to Leader of Joint opposition Dinesh Gunawardane claim in Parliament yesterday that there was a threat of military coup happening in Sri Lanka because of government's alleged curbing of democratic freedoms. <br/><br/>He had mentioned a police baton charge on a demonstration by retired disabled soldiers in Colombo recently. An army spokesman did not react immediately to the claims saying their commander has been apprised of the statement made by opposition MP.
