India offers full assistance in Nepal's economic development

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has said that India attaches highest priority to its relations with Nepal and offered full assistance and cooperation for economic development of the Himalayan nation. Mrs. Swaraj also appreciated the initiative taken by Nepal Prime Minister Prachanda to send Nepal's Deputy Prime Minister and special envoy Bimalendra Nidhi to New Delhi. She said India stands ready to work closely with Prachand Government and to welcome him in India soon on a bilateral visit. <br/><br/>Mr. Nidhi met Mrs. Swaraj in New Delhi yesterday and conveyed to her the steps taken by Prachanda Government to promote political stability by resolving all contentious issues. Mr. Nidhi also called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the meeting, Mr. Modi said, India is fully committed to support Nepalese Government and the people of Nepal in the post-earthquake re-construction effort. Sources said, Mr. Modi also conveyed an invitation to the Prime Minister of Nepal to visit India at his earliest convenience. Mr. Nidhi also called on President Pranab Mukherjee. <br/><br/>During the meeting Mr. Mukherjee said, long term peace and stability of Nepal is in the interest of India and New Delhi will work with the Himalayan nation to achieve this goal. Mr. Mukherjee said India Nepal ties are firmly embedded in shared geography, history, culture, civilisation and close people-to-people ties.<br/><br/><br/>
