India has offered Bangladesh a fresh 1 billion US Dollar line of credit for the development of trade facilities and infrastructure.
The offer was made at a meeting of the Joint Working Group on Trade that ended in Dhaka last evening. India has also offered to supply another 500 megawatts of power to Bangladesh on completion of the required infrastructure.
First Secretary (Commerce) at the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, said the officials of both countries discussed ways to boost trade between the two countries by removing tariff and non-tariff barriers.
The India-Bangladesh Container Train Service, resumption of coastal shipping services, and finalisation of Cooperation Agreement between Bureau of Indian Standards and Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institutions were other issues discussed in the 2-day meeting.
