India has offered $5 million aid to Pakistan for flood relief. External Affairs Minister S M Krishna called up his Pakistani counterpart S M Qureshi and conveyed India's concern over the loss of human lives in the country's worst-ever floods fury.Pakistan says 20 million people have been affected so far by the devastating floods—six million more than the previously number. The new figures were given by the Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani in a speech marking the Independence Day of Pakistan for which celebrations have been greatly scaled down. The worst floods in Pakistan have eclipsed the Independence Day celebrations in the country leading to cancellation of festivities and prompting nation to make celebrations with simplicity. Gilani said there were still flood victims to be reached, and that the government was leaving no stone unturned. While the water level has receded in some areas, others face the threat of further flooding.
