India, Norway sign social security agreement

India and Norway signed a Social Security Agreement in New Delhi on Friday. The Agreement was signed by Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs, Vayalar Ravi and Minister of Trade and Industry of Norway Trond Giske. Ravi said that the Agreement will enhance the cooperation on social security and facilitate the movement of professionals between the two countries.He said that the detached workers sent by Norway-based companies to their Indian subsidiaries, or those sent by Indian companies to their branches in Norway will be exempted from social security contribution in the host country for a period of 60 months.Trond Giske said that this significant agreement will further strengthen the bilateral relations and it will play an important role to ease the professionals’ mobility between the two countries.
