India and Nepal today signed an agreement to enhance bilateral trade and investment. The pact was signed after the two day Commerce Secretary level talks between the two countries which concluded in New Delhi. Talking to reporters after the meeting Commerce Secretary Rahul Khullar said that India is keen to enhance cooperation in hydel power generation along with increased investment in various infrastructure projects in Nepal.
Mr Khullar said that both the sides discussed an entire gamut of existing trade-related issues between the two countries.
Nepal Commerce Secretary Purushottam Ojha said that India is the single largest trading partner of Nepal and his country hopes for more investment from India. He said speedy implementation of the Trade Treaty provisions, opening of Vishakapatnam Port and simplifying procedures at the Kolkata port for Nepali traders were some of the other issues which figured prominently in the talks.
