India and Nepal today signed four pacts including two aiming at enhancing connectivity between the two countries. <br/><br/>A new air services agreement was signed between the External Affairs Minister and the his Nepalese counterpart after delegation level talks between the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh and the visiting Nepalese President Ram Baran Yadav at Hyderabad House.<br/><br/>It provides for growth of air services between the two countries stregthening people to people contact. Another important MoU on development of railway infrastructure on five border points along the Nepal border signed will futher boost the bilateral connectivity .<br/><br/>Dr Yadav was accorded a ceremonial reception at the fore court of Rashtrapati Bhawan this morning. He sought increased bilateral co-operation with India. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that two more MoUs were signed for development of Nepal Bharat Maitri Polytechnic and establishment of Nepal Bharat Maitri Sabha in the Himalayan nation.<br/><br/>Leaders of the two countries held talks for over an hour. Enhancing trade and partnership and streatgic cooperation apart from shairing of waters is believed to have figured prominently in the discussions.Realising the full potential of economic cooperation remained at the centre of talks.<br/> <br/>The total trade volume between the two countries was 2 lakh 52 thousand crores in 2008 with Projects worth two thousand crore rupees from India in progress in Nepal. <br/><br/>About 60 percent of Neplease trade is with India and New Delhi is the biggest investor in that country with its share at 44 percent.The present visit is bound to take the ralations between the two countries to a high level.<br/><br/>The visiting Nepalese President called on his Indian counterpart Mrs Pratibha Devisingh Patil at Rashtrapati Bhavan this evening.<br/><br/>A banquet was organised in the honour Dr Ram Bharan Yadav. He also held discussions wuith the Vice President Mr Mohammed Hamid Ansari and exchanged views with him on a host of issues.<br/><br/>The External Affairs, Home, and Finance Ministers also exchanged views with the visiting dignitory on issues of mutual concern. <br/><br/>He met the UPA Chairperson Mrs Sonia Gandhi and the leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Mrs Sushma Swaraj. Dr Yadav is visiting Hardwar tomorrow.
