In Nepal, a three day bilateral India- Nepal Conference on Rabindranath Tagore began on Friday in Kathmandu. Inaugurating the Conference India’s Ambassador to Nepal, Jayant Prasad, said it is indeed an attribute to the great sage and poet who had a vision of India’s freedom. He said, on his 150th birth anniversary Rabindranath Tagore's humanism, morale and rationality has a universal relevance even today.At the inauguration, Nepal’s national poet recited Madhav Prasad Ghimire recited a poem on the Nobel laureate. While Kanak Mani Dixit, founder director of Madan Puraskar recited poems of Tagore in Bengali.The Conference organized by Indian Cultural Centre in Kathmandu has brought together academicians from India and Nepal to deliver talks on Tagore views on education, literary works and Nepal’s response to his writings, alongwith recitations. Rabindra Sangeet and play on Tagore’s’ Sesher Kabita will also be performed. The Conference titled Rabindranath Tagore ‘at Home in the World’ hopes to open up new horizons of meaningful literary communications and dialogues among writers and scholars between the two neighbours.
